Breeding Time
The morning sky on the way to the Antelope Island. Looks like a autumn sky to me. Well, it's definitely not here, though.
In the Antelope Island. There was a nest of swallows under the roof of a barn near the beach. Baby swallows are waiting for food...!
Here you go.
The mom and dad are working so hard to feed them...!

Beautiful Bird
Most of the birds were unknown to me because I was never interested much. But now, I can't say that anymore because of this environment in Utah, and, of course, because I'm married to a biologist.
One of the most beautiful birds for me: Ibis.
What are you looking for?
Oh, I've never seen it that close. He (She?) has a white head!
Flew away when I tried to get closer...
But the flying figure is also beautiful!!

On a hot day...
Our guests are bathing furiously!
I was taking pictures & movies through our uncleaned windows and screens, so the pictures are not clear enough...
I recoreded some movies too.
Oops!
Radio was on.
Re-tried.
Wow.
They can still fly!
Soon after the robin left, three magpies came.
They looked very curious. They must be siblings born in this spring (my husband said).

Mill Creek Canyon
Hiking in Mill Creek Canyon. This time we went to Pipeline Trail. The signs on the trail also showed "Rattlesnake Gulch", so my husband was thrilled because he thought he could finally see one, but fortunately we didn't encounter none of them. Good for ME!
From the viewpoint.
There was a rainbow on the mountains. Well, you can't see it very well in the picture...
I don't know the name of these flowers...
This one might be "Scarlet Paintbrush", I guess.
These are "Yellow Gracier-Lily", also called "Snow-Lily".
These flowers reminded me "katakuri", which is named as "erythronium japonicum" in Latin. It has a purple flower instead of yellow. I found it every year in the forest behind our home, and felt that the early spring was there.
People used to got starch from its bulb, and this starch was called "katakuri-ko", which is replaced with potato starch today. But the name "katakuri-ko" is still used unchanged to call starch.

Kite Surfing Watching
We went to Deer Creek Reservoir again, and saw a lot of kitesurfer on the North end of the lake.
Sometimes they flew up too...!
It was the place where we were standing while watching them.
It looks like paper...
This time we went there in the late afternoon. It was cold again, but the sky before sunset was really beautiful.

Deer Creek Reservoir
It was a nice late fall day for going out a little.
In front of us, there was thick fog...!
It was actually our distination, Deer Creek Reservoir. When we arrived there, the fog was just clearing up...
It was right after Halloween, so a monster was reflecting too! (A silly couple...!)
It was a little chilly to sit besides water after a while, but I enjoyed the beautiful blue sky, a view on Mt. Timpanogos, birds on and above the lake, jumping fish, and so on.

Timpanogos Cave
Few days ago, I went to Timpanogos Cave.
Hiking to the entrance of the cave was not long, took less than an hour, but the trail was very steep, and my heart was pounding really hardly.

Salt Flats : dawn
One of the purposes of this trip was watching the sunrise.
But at first the moon.
The venus.
It was getting lighter little by little...

Salt Flats : wildlife
We also went hiking a little to the west side of Salt Flats. Over there, we encountered some of the wildlife.
Bighorn Sheep
It was probably a family.
They stared at us, looked like that they were judging if we were harmless or not...
It was a sponge -like rock. There was a small shell in it!
From now on, some lizards are shown. So, if you don't like them, don't click this link below.

Brighton - Snake Creek Pass
Last Monday, I went to Brighton in Big Cottonwood Canyon with my friends for the first time. I was worrying about the weather, but luckily, we didn't get any drop of rain!
We encounterd a marmot on the way.
It was the first time for me to see him.

After hiking at Wall Lake, we drove to the Mirror Lake, which is located a little further into the mountains.
The clouds in the blue sky was so beautiful...!

Wall Lake
Last Sunday, we tried another trail in Uinta Mountains. We didn't finish the trail, but hiked just to the first lake, Wall Lake, and hiked around the lake.
It is the view from the other side of the lake.
At this point, the wind stopped for a while, and the reflection was wonderful.

Uinta Mountains
Last Sunday's hiking in Uinta Mountains. The weather was perfect. It was sunny but nicely cool in the mountains. It was a wounderful escape from the heat in the town...!
Trial Lake, our starting point
A lake (or a pond?), no name (or I couldn't find it)
